Glacier meltwater is especially important during low flows and high stream temperatures in the summer. Glacier-fed streams will become increasingly important in mitigating the aquatic impacts of heatwaves until the glaciers are gone. \

Heatwaves cause an increase in glacial melt, so at some point, the meltwater contributions from these glaciers will cease. \
