CLEAN Get Started Guide workshop: 10/11/18
4:15 - 5:45pm
Climate and energy education is based on rapidly evolving science, making it is a challenge to find credible educational resources for teaching about these important topics. The CLEAN Collection addresses this need, providing an online database of 700+ peer-reviewed, high-quality, standards-aligned educational resources. In addition, the CLEAN Get Started Guide provides step-by-step guidance in developing engaging, science-rich units and supporting accurate and effective climate and energy education.
In this interactive session, educators will use the CLEAN Collection resources and the CLEAN Get Started Guide unit planning tools to create their own unit around climate and energy phenomena and current issues, which can be tailored to different environmental education settings and audiences.
The workshop will provide an overview of the main topics in climate and energy education, utilize the three-dimensional learning approach outlined in the Next Generation Science Standards, and apply the storylining method. A final lightning-style talk will offer participants the opportunity to share and get feedback on their unit ideas at the end of the workshop.
