Mindfulness Practices & Guided Meditation

Mindfulness Practices & Guided Meditation

Learning about natural hazards can bring up feelings of anxiety, grief, despair, and guilt. These emotions are hard to manage during the school day, but taking a moment to be aware of what is going on with their thoughts, feelings, and sensations can help students and teachers practice self-care and compassion. In this lesson, students will participate in some practices designed to help them start to pay attention to their breathing and pay attention to the present moment. These practices can help students practice self-care and emotional regulation. When used regularly, mindfulness can help students build emotional regulation skills and build a community of compassion and respect.
