Dr. Hughes’s research centers on key orographic meteorological processes that influence the mid-latitude water cycle and Arctic ocean circulation and sea ice. Using advanced regional climate models, including WRF and RASM, she generates high-resolution, dynamically-downscaled reanalysis datasets to deepen insights into these critical climate dynamics.

Andy Anderson is a seasoned avalanche forecaster at the Sierra Avalanche Center, where he has worked since 2006. His diverse background includes roles as a ski patroller, climbing ranger, guide, and avalanche educator across Utah, Colorado, and the Northwest. With over 15 years of professional avalanche and mountain rescue experience, Andy also dedicates summers to teaching technical rescue. In his free time, he enjoys trail running and adventuring in the mountains with his family.

Daniela Pennycock is the former Program Integrator and Communications Lead at the CIRES Center for Education, Engagement, and Evaluation (CEEE). She oversees a dynamic communications and administrative team, including a robust cohort of student assistants and interns, while advancing strategic alignment across 40+ science education and engagement programs.
