Sarah Schoedinger, M.S. (she/her) is a Research Affiliate with Center for Education, Engagement and Evaluation (CEEE) at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder.  Sarah was co-founder and co-lead of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Environmental Literacy Program, which provided $95M in grants to 163 projects across the United States over two decades. While at NOAA, Sarah shaped a national portfolio of grants and partnerships supporting ocean and climate literacy, environmental and STEM education, and community resilience. These investments demonstrated numerous effective, scalable approaches for helping children, youth, and adults take an active role in improving ecosystem health and increasing climate resilience in their communities.  Sarah is a past president of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) and has been a leader in a global campaign to increase Ocean Literacy, starting with the development of the foundational Ocean Literacy Framework. Now used internationally, the framework helps connect ocean health, climate, and human well-being while supporting informed decision-making and civic participation. Sarah continues to champion the idea that education is essential infrastructure for resilient communities and a thriving ocean. She holds a B.A. in philosophy and history of science and mathematics from St. John’s College and a M.S. in Marine Studies from the University of Delaware.
